A1 GP Race Report

Pole Position and Second Overall for Sunstate Racings Judd Greedy

Sunstate Racings’ Judd Greedy has had a stellar start to the 2008 race season at the A1GP at Eastern Creek on the weekend.

Riding the Sunstate Honda CBR600RR in the Australian Supersport Races at the recent A1GP, Greedy showed that he still has the speed, skill and determination to match it with the Factory Bikes at the pointy end of the field.

In Friday qualifying Judd was able to put himself on pole position in front of both the Factory Kawasaki and Factory Suzuki boys.

Race one on Saturday saw Judd have a race long battle with Josh Waters with the pair swapping positions on several occasions but Judd was beaten to the post by just a tenth of a second, having to settle for second.

Race Two on Saturday afternoon saw Judd completely confident in his machine and the Dunlop tyres, which he has chosen to ride on this year. He led into turn one and was able to hold the much faster factory bikes at bay for the first six laps. Again Josh managed to sneak past with two laps to run and Judd finished second, just one tenth of a second behind again.

Race Three on Sunday saw a change of tactics by Judd and he followed Josh for the whole race planning his move on the last lap only to have the officials end the race a lap early due to time constraints.

‘ As I come over the line with 2 laps to run I moved onto the back wheel of  Josh ready to make my move on the last lap as he had done to me in the previous race only to see the chequered flags waving as I come onto the straight. I wasn’t sure of what the reason for the race being cut short by a lap until I got back to the pits, but that’s racing I guess, I really had a ball out there this weekend and the Honda CBR600RR worked brilliantly through the back section of the track which allowed me to match Josh’s pace all weekend. The Dunlop tyres worked awesome all weekend on the slippery track which is evident in the fact that all three of us up front were running the Dunlops’ said Judd.

Sunstate also decided to give Tim Durie a start in Supersport after a very good maiden year in Superstock last year and he didn’t disappoint finishing first in C grade.

After the great result Judd was also quick to acknowledge the people that have helped him get ready for this season. “I’m glad that I can finally show the guys that have stuck by me that it was worth their while, both the team and myself have been working real hard this off season to ensure we have the best possible start to the season and after all the support that my sponsor and the Team owner Rod Lamb has given me it feels real good to be able to get some results on the board”, quoted Judd.
